Yamato

Lore

Kaori and her brother Yamato were born into the household of a crime boss, and it was taken for granted that after their father's death they would inherit the Seventh Moon. For years the two led the organisation as equals, bringing it profit and success, until in time they set their sights on expanding into America. The plan they envisioned was simple: Yamato would cross to America and raise Kaori's international standing, while Kaori remained in Japan to hold the domestic operation together. What the siblings had not counted on were the subordinates who did not care for the idea of Kaori commanding in Japan. The revolt came swiftly and violently. Yamato lost his life protecting his sister, and it was thanks to his sacrifice that Kaori and a handful of loyal followers escaped Japan for America. The man who met them on arrival had been expecting Yamato. Unfamiliar with Japanese names, he could not tell one gender from another, and so he called Kaori "Yamato". She considered correcting him, and decided against it. To keep her brother's memory alive, she thought, the best course was to take his name and carry on his dream.
